Yesterday, I had an unexpected experience while trying to withdraw from the ATM located at a nearby 7-Eleven convenience store. I have written about these multi-bank ATMs before and was raving about how convenient they are. I wasn’t aware that they had recently removed BDO from their list of affiliated banks that can withdraw without additional charges.

As I proceeded with my transaction, the screen displayed a prompt informing me that even a balance inquiry would incur a fee. This caught me off guard and made me take a closer look at the banner on the top of the machine, which prominently displayed its current affiliations: RCBC and Landbank. BDO was no longer part of the lineup.

In the end, I decided to cancel my transaction and opted to visit a BDO branch nearby instead. It certainly serves as a reminder to everybody to check for updates regarding ATM affiliations before doing any transactions.
